What does it cost?
Nothing. dentaldecider is a free photo sharing service designed exclusively for dentists and dental specialists to share their work with patients. There is no monthly fee and initial setup fees are being waived during our beta phase. We rely on third-party ads to support our operation. The service itself is complimentary for dentists, specialists and patients alike.
How does the search engine work?
Patients come to our site looking for dental treatments such as dental implants, pediatric dentistry, TMJ treatment, teeth whitening, cleaning or any one of the 18 searchable categories. Once they check a category, our search engine displays them a list of dentists within their neighborhood who provide that exact treatment. So if a patient checks the dental implant category, he or she will receive a list of dentists that perform dental implants. On the other hand if the patient checks pediatric dentistry, he or she will receive a list of dentists that treat children; and so forth.
How does my profile show up on the search engine results page?
You will not show up until you have completed your profile. As soon as you complete your profile, you start to show up on the search results page. Once you’ve provided an explanation for a category, you will start to show up on the search results page for that particular category. The same goes for your photo gallery. As soon as you submit your first photo for each category, your photo gallery page begins to show up on the search results page.
How do I improve my ranking on the search results page?
Our search engine uses similar criteria to Google’s search engine in order to rank your profiles. The higher the quality of your photo gallery and the better your explanations, the higher you will show up on the search results page. Things such as quality of your work, number of photos submitted, descriptions provided with your photos, age of your profile, frequency of updates to your photo galleries, all affect your ultimate ranking.
How many photos should I submit per category?
There are 18 searchable categories. Our advice is that you submit a few hundred photos for categories which you want to rank high for. Continue to keep sending photos of your work as you complete newer treatments in order to maintain your ranking. For categories which are not as important to you but you still perform some treatment, provide a brief explanation and create a minimal photo gallery. You can skip the categories which you do not perform, but it is better to include a brief explanation for them as well. Even a simple explanation such as “I do not perform this treatment, but I do diagnose cases and refer them to this specialist” will improve the quality of your profile and increase your ranking. It also shows patients that even though you don’t perform that particular treatment, you still care about their well being.
What happens to my profile if I relocate?
Nothing. You simply change your address and your profile starts to show up in your new location. As opposed to your own website, Yelp ir Facebook page, your dentaldecider profile follow you throughout your career. All it requires is an updated address whenever you relocate. Keep in mind that your profile ranking may increase or decrease depending on the competitiveness of the new market you have relocated to. (Note that we are currently in beta mode and are not available in every city).
How can dental specialists use dentaldecider?
While there is no single category dedicated to dental specialists, we have made accommodations to assist specialists in getting the recognition their works deserve. Specialists have two advantages over general dentists. First, specialists are allowed to create subcategories within their photo galleries. For example, if you are an endodontists you can create several subcategories for various endodontic treatments, such as apectomy, retreat, etc. Patients still find your profile only when they search root canal therapy but once they’ve reached your profile they can view all the various endodontic treatments which your offer. Creating multiple subcategories provides a better viewing experience for patients as well as general dentists who might be researching your work.
The second advantage that specialists have is that organically they rank higher for their specialty categories, provided that they create a high-quality photo gallery. If you are an endodontists that has a quality photo gallery with hundreds of various root canal treatments, you will rank higher than general dentists on the search results page for root canal therapy. However keep in mind that this only applies should you create a high-quality and pleasant photo gallery. If you only submit a dozen photos while a neighboring general dentist has submitted hundreds of photos of root canal treatment, then the general dentist will rank higher.
